You’re a beach bum at heart, but you still need to feel the pulse of a city scene? With its grand boulevard, neo-Gothic palazzi, art-nouveau café, and as cultural hotspot of the island Cagliari looks every bit the cosmopolitan capital, and is happy to flaunt its urban credentials. Cherry on the top: the 8 km long Poetto beach!

Restaurants in Cagliari

Lillicu restaurant, Marina neighborhood.  Typical Cagliaritan trattoria, marble table, mouth-watering fresh fish from the harbor and small concerts in the evening.

Sa Cardiga e Su Schironi restaurant, 10 kilometers away from the city center in Maddalena beach area. Try typical Sardinian specialties from the bottarga di Cabras to Pecorino do Nuoro and the seafood such as grilled eel and crayfish!

Luigi Pomata restaurant, in the Marina neighbourhood.  The carlofortino chef offers reviewed version of Carloforte’s cuisine, such sushi and sashimi Sardinian style.

Bars in Cagliari

Whether chilling on a sofa in a funky bastion-top bar, or mingling with the crowd for the popular evening ritual of a stroll around the upper part of town, you can enjoy the movida all year round, taking in the sea view and enjoying the ‘air conditioning’ of the perfumed sea breezes rolling in from the sea!

Caffè Libarium Nostrum – on top of the Bastioni Santa Croce, in the Castello neighbourhood. Fashionable bar boasting breathtaking views over the city.

Antico Caffè, piazza della Costituzione. Cassical all day round city bar, famous with locals from all ages.  For a quick lunch, evening aperitivo or simply for a coffee.

Beaches in Carliari

In summer, the movida takes up residence along the long strand of the Poetto beach, which is lined with kiosks offering all manner of diversions, from literary cafés to hip gastro-bars and local surf shacks.

La Paillotte, in Cala Mosca. To hang out with the locals.
