Design hotel meets wild Corsica. Smart bolt hole in the leafy heart of the island with the most fabulous in-bed views.
Cleverly hidden in the mountainous maquis of an authentic Corsican inland village, the Hotel Artemesia Bastileca is a praise to Corsica’s dramatic beauty. A place that you’d find (too) osé at first – then you step inside, and it just all makes sense: the colours, the terrace, the bay windows that pop out of the building’s first floor. It’s smart.
Open year round.
Double rooms start at 90 € per night. Use the calendars to verify the rate and availability on a specific date and to book online.
In-bed (or bath) views. In your room, the front row seats are your bed and your bathtub, slotted into the picture window that pops out of the Hotel Artemisia’s first floor, giving you the unique feeling of being perched in the trees.
Rooms: 11 rooms. Fresh and stylishly minimalist, leaving the stage clear – as does the rest of the hotel – for her, the island of beauty.
Breakfast: The breakfast is a magical moment here at Artemisia for the location and for the products served. Chritophe, son-of-the-soil, knows exactly where and who sources the very best local jams, hams and cheese, and who makes the most mouthwatering cakes.
Bar: The Tea Room – comfortably installed in the deep mellow velvet sofa, or in the garden as close as you can get to the maquis.
Restaurant: The kitchen is simple and quality-focused, respecting the flavours and the products of the region. It’s unpretentious and it’s good. Menus vary with the seasons and market finds.
Pool: A dip-in pool to refresh – not a swimming pool.
