Family chateau off the beaten track between the Perche and the Loire. And France’s best chateau according to the Sunday Times, too.
One hundred years ago, the first grand prix of the Automobile Club de France passed right in front of the estate entrance of the Chateau de la Barre in Conflans-sur-Anille, but the pilots were in too much of a hurry to admire the elegant honey-stoned castle. Stories like this abound at la Barre, family home of the Vanssays for over 600 years.
