A large 18th-Century house clinging onto the hillside with super views, charming hosts and evenings that end singing around the piano.

A SLOW-CHIC EXPERIENCE

The fact that so many of Cuq en Terrasses guests are return visitors says it all: this place is utterly lovable. Set in a tiny hamlet, opposite the church, the 4 levels of the hotel Cuq en Terrasses look out onto endless rolling fields and rustic farms. The extensive, steeply-sloping grounds hide colourful gardens with shady nooks, rippling waterfalls and a sparking swimming pool.

Inside, an unequalled atmosphere runs throughout, courtesy of the original terracotta, slate and stone flooring, antique furniture, wrought-iron bannisters and wooden beams.

But what makes the Cuq en Terrasses truly special are your hosts: Philippe and Andonis. They have settled in a little world of paradise and generously share it with guests.

Open from April to October.

Double rooms start from 105 € per night. Use the calendar to find the rate and availability on a specific date and to book online.

WE LOVE

  • Philippe and Andonis, they cater beyond your wishes. Naturally.
  • The terrace (and the views) - The hotel’s headline act, especially at sunset.
  • Lazing in front of the immense fireplace in early spring and late autumn.

DON'T MISS

  • Fromagerie Marzac, in Revel. To stock up with the best artisanal ewe and goat cheeses.
  • Château Montels Vineyard, in Souel. To meet a warm and passionate winemaker, and sample his outstanding vintages.
  • L'Auberge de Remparts, in Saint Julia. To eat with the locals. Generous cuisine and pretty setting.

THE BEST BIT

Andonis’ cooking, based on local products from the market, with light tastes and flavours of home-grown vegetables, wine sauces, aromatic herbs. Its table d’hôte style, understand fixed time (8 pm) and fixed menu (two amuse-bouches, starter, main course, cheese and dessert). And it's simply delicious.
