An enchanting nineteenth-century retreat in the heart of the verdant countryside of Western France, close to Marais Poitevin, La Rochelle and Niort.
The Manoir de Plaisance is a recently renovated 19th-century former hunting lodge that proudly stands in the midst of twelve acres of parkland. Guests are welcome to roam around the grounds, fish in the fishing pools or play tennis. Ask for a picnic basket and blanket and find a spot by the lakeside and settle down to enjoy a simple meal of locally sourced produce. It's the perfect location for a quiet 'grown-up' holiday.
The two hosts, Ben and Michael, are enthusiastic and welcoming and keen to share their passion for this delightful corner of France. The Manoir de Plaisance, for example, is near the Marais Poitevin Regional Park, also known as the 'Green Venice'. It's a protected and very special area of wild marshland, filled with secretive waterways, canals, and wildlife. Cycle along the canals, paddle rented boats or simply wander along and admire the wonderful landscape.
A stylishly renovated boutique hotel, the Manoir de Plaisance offers four luxurious suites, all with unbroken views of the rolling parkland.
